A Message From Chante Walter..Charlotte Family Yoga Instructor Of The Month
Greetings!
"This time, like all times, is a very good one, if we know what to do with it."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Spring has arrived!
We see it in the lush beauty of new foliage, bright
colors blooming each day and we can feel it in the fresh spring air.
As we celebrate the arrival of this fresh bounty that multiplies with each new day, we also fall into that natural desire to 'spring clean'. By swapping out seasonal clothes, cleaning windows and purging the accumulation of unnecessary 'stuff', we prepare for a fresh new start.
But - what about our minds?
Have you ever considered doing some mental 'spring cleaning'? Maybe getting rid of those recurring thoughts that are no longer serving a positive purpose? Like that old sweater that you know you should toss, old thoughts, especially negative ones, create clutter and unrest.
What would it take to clean out and organize our thoughts? Maybe a lighter schedule would create some space for meditation. We could also practice being present by embracing the season that we are in, rather than expectantly looking to the next one. Each new month can be just as busy as the last and May will be no different, with two holidays and many tasks coming to an end as new ones begin.
The absence of mindful attention to our emotional wellbeing causes undue stress.
As Emerson says; it is in knowing what to do with the present that allows us to make the best of it.
A mindful Yoga practice enables us to recognize those harmful thoughts and let them go. This month, why not make an intention to do some mental 'spring cleaning' and let your mind be renewed as well?
